Maria: WWE Held Me Back & Divas Are 'Horribly Disadvantaged'

Former WWE Maria Kanellis appeared on the "One Sided Ring" podcat this week and said she says WWE holds back their Divas by not giving the division enough exposure or the women a chance to let their personalities across. Here are some highlights of what she said about:

Being Held Back: "I wasn't allowed to do as much as I wanted to do. I had all these great, creative ideas and was constantly entering them into the WWE creative, but I couldn't use a lot of them," Maria said. "The Divas weren't given enough time, which I think is a horrible, horrible disadvantage that the girls have. I felt like I was held back - all the time.

"I wonder what would really happen if the Divas were given that much time," she said. "I don't know if it's that they think the Divas can't sell tickets, but I truly believe in the Divas division and always will. I think they are missing out on a lot of talent right there."

Being A Backstage Interviewer for MMA Events on HDNet: "That's one reason I'm not sad [WWE] fired me. I got eight minutes of time on an MMA show to just talk to people and that was amazing," she said. "WWE never gave me eight minutes the entire time I was there."

I have to say that I am jealous of Summer because she will be getting more money for her charity through Norton and LifeLock! If you buy a Norton and LifeLock product, they will make a donation to Right To Play for every product sold. How cool is that?

Life has a funny way of reminding us what is important. Humanity above all religion, government and family is what binds us. We have to protect each other, educate the uneducated, feed the hungry, accept the differences and have hope for a brighter future. There will always be problems. But you can make peace with this by believing that there will always be solutions as long as people are willing to search and work hard for them. We all must care about our humanity. Whether our differences are big or small on The Celebrity Apprentice we are all fighting for humanity.

In this episode I was feeling detached from the group and for some reason that was okay with me. I did what I do when I feel alone. I rolled up my sleeves, took off the stilettos, put on the work shoes, ruined my manicure, got paint in my hair and just plain got ugly.I love how I feel while doing construction. Building is such a wonderful experience.

When we got this task I wanted it. I was going to ask to be project manager again. But as they say, "first come first serve" and I just couldn't keep up with the Angel and her magic wings.... oh Selita what great skin you have. I always wanted to be an Angel. I watched the runway shows and loved the catalog. It's so cool to know an Angel. Although, I want to rip Selita's wings off, strap them to my back and go running down the streets of NY, today I will have to keep those thoughts to myself. That being said, Selita, you are going down if we lose.

Maria TNA Bound?

Maria made note of WWE wanting more control over her projects, which was a key part in her release when she wasn’t exactly open to that kind of control. In addition, Maria expressed unhappiness when WWE posted the news of her release before she could inform her family and friends. “People are saying it was about money or this and that,” Kanellis told Marvez. “It wasn’t. It had to do with my other passions and things I wanted to do alongside WWE. Unfortunately, it didn’t work for them.”

Maria is now working as the backstage interview for King of the Cage, which airs live on HDNet. Despite having a role in the MMA promotion, Maria did not rule out a possible move to TNA, or even Ring of Honor. “I didn’t want to leave when I did,” Kanellis said. “Who knows where the road is going to lead me? Maybe a good cause will come up for me to go to TNA or even visit with Ring of Honor. I’ve always said some of the great talent is on the independent (circuit).

This week Maria guest starred on Fox Sports' Cubed show. Looking as glamorous as ever she was in a segment known as "A slice of Pizzi". The segment was very quick and fast paced but hilarious to watch. With a cute Kiss Cam reenactment at the end its a must see!

It started off so good! The Make-A -Wish kid, Jon Paul is such a sweetheart and he is so business minded. He was telling me stories about his lemonade stand and other business ventures. You would never be able to tell that Jon Paul had been sick. He's a very resilient kid. I love his mom and I am so thankful I got to meet her. Make-A-Wish is such a wonderful charity. Jon Paul's story is so inspiring and I am excited to see him again in New York at the finale. 20,000 dollars to Make-A-Wish!! Yes but....

This week's episode was the hardest for me to watch so far. Everyone seemed tense and it wasn't as fun as the other two shows. Summer unfortunately was not the best leader and neither was Michael. Leading is a hard thing. Summer was too afraid of hurting feelings and making decisions, where Michael was not afraid at all. Being a great leader is a combination of respecting others' opinions and also knowing what you want. Summer is a sweetheart and I felt bad for her in this episode because she did not know exactly what she wanted. What you didn't see on the show was the argument that Team Tenacity got in at the table. I said a spokesperson is one person and not 3. And I said, "Let's look up the definition of spokesperson." I was very bitchy and I was so tired during this episode but I felt like it took far too long to get going.
